Let's Rant - Messy Hair

I know, I know, it's very late... sorry. But I just realised something and I thought I would write about it for some bizarre reason. Today I am going to be ranting about messy hair, but not all messy hair. Just the messy hair that frustrates me every morning when I wake up and have to spend half an hour brushing instead of getting ready for school.

So let's get on. I want to clarify that this isn't all types of messy hair because, of course, messy hair is a well-known style for teens and I love it from time to time, but it does annoy me. Having long hair is a chore in itself, it gets frizzy if it is humid outside and goes all dry in the winter (yuck!), but another added stress is messy hair! I don't even understand how it works! I get to school and my hair is all smooth and nice, but by the end I look like I have been beaten up by a grizzly bear! It annoys me a lot and if you know me, you will know that I constantly change my hairstyle because my hair just annoys me! It usually goes from middle parting to side parting to ponytail to one plait to two plaits and then I just give up and take it out and let my mane free to get as messy as it likes! The hassle!

At this point you are probably thinking "well just bring a brush to school Lauren, then that wouldn't happen... psshhhhh" but NOOOO, trust me, it dooesn't work! I have had to learn that from experience! If you bring a brush to school, it is likely that you will have these things happen to you:

- EVERYONE asks to use it after P.E (I know this, as I am one of the people who asks to borrow hair brushes, I however, give them back) and you end up with about 50 shades of different strands of hair entangled in it, mixed in with your own, ew.

- You can't really find any time to use it. I usually eat in the large lunch hall, surrounded by all the other years, which is not the best place to whip out a hairbrush and start pretending you are ariel on her rock, just brushing your hair. And I am DEFINITELY not one to go into the toilets to do my hair. I think I have an irrational fear of the girls' toilets because there are always a few girls in there just reapplying their mascara and talking about WEIRD things and that is extremely intimidating for me. Then you get a random string of girls coming in and looking at you doing your hair.

- It gets all tangled up with everything in your bag. Probably one of the most disgusting things EVER! Everything buried in the bottom of your bag surfaces, not in your hand, but on your poor hairbrush. You can find a variety of things down there, including sweets, wrappers, plasters, hairbands and dust (I mean seriously, how does DUST get down there?!) and any other residue. And of course you can't use THAT!

So I just don't take one to school, but that means my hair goes a bit crazy throughout the day. And then there are some people who purposely have messy hair. Messy hair can be super cute and casual and VERY tumblr, but sometimes girls go a bit too far. There is an infamous move that exists in school society, I like to call it "The hair poof". Let me just establish, there is a difference between "volumising" and "looking like you have been dragged through a bush backwards", it is very subtle, but it is there. The "hair poof" is the movement of the hand on the top of your head, next to your parting and scrunching it up and out. Sometimes you can't help doing it, but in some cases it is a bit over-done to say the least. This movement also has cousins such as the "Turning your middle parting into a side parting and trying to keep it there" and the "pulling your ponytail forward so it is more poofy and doesn't make you look like you have had your hair slicked back". Ahh, the joys of school hairstyles.

So that is it! Messy hair is very annoying, to be frank. I hope you enjoyed my rant like I do, because I have to release anger instead of bottling up, for health and safety reasons. Please help me with my hair problems! I am very picky with hairstyles and I always think that many look really weird on me. HELP!

It's been great talking to you,

see you later!

Lauren x
